Ever since two men opened fire at Salman’s Galaxy Apartments home on Sunday, April 14, an investigation has been underway. As of now, four individuals have been arrested in the Salman Khan house firing incident. The accused taken into custody by the Mumbai Police are shooters  Sagar Pal & Vicky Gupta and alleged arms suppliers Sonu Subhash Chander & Anuj Thapan. However, yesterday reports surfaced that Thapan passed away after attempting suicide while in police custody.

While an investigation is now underway to determine why he took such a drastic strep, the deceased’s brother and village head have accused the police of murdering him and covering it up as a suicide. Read on to know all they said. 

Deceased’s brother demands justice

Abhishek Thapan, the brother of the deceased accused arms supplier, said that Anuj was not the kind of person who would commit suicide. News agency ANI quoted him demanding justice for his sibling saying, “Anuj was taken by Mumbai Police from Sangrur 6-7 days ago. Today, we received a call that Anuj had committed suicide. He was not the kind who could have committed suicide. He was murdered by the police. We want justice. He worked as a truck helper.”

Sarpanch claims police murdered him 

The Sarpanch of the deceased’s native village, Manoj Godara, also raised suspicion over Anuj’s death. Accusing the police of murdering him, he said, “This case is suspicious from the beginning. They were two brothers, one sister and one mother. They don’t have a father. Anuj used to work as a helper to a truck driver. He was taken by Mumbai Police without informing the Panchayat. Even the family was only informed 1-2 days later. We all know how much security is there in police custody.” He added, “On one side is superstar Salman Khan and on the other side are the labourers. Under pressure, they have killed him and framed it as a suicide.”

On Sunday, April 14, two men fired four rounds at Khan’s residence at Galaxy Apartments. Within days, the Mumbai Police arrested the two shooters – Sagar Pal and Vicky Gupta from Gujarat. After days of questioning, a search was conducted for the weapons used in the firing incident in Surat’s Tapi River – and guns and cartridges were found there. On April 25, Anuj Thapan and Sonu Subhash Chander were arrested by the Mumbai Police in Punjab for allegedly supplying the weapons used.

As per reports, the 32-year-old alleged arms supplier in the Salman Khan shooting case attempted to end his life when he went to a toilet attached to the police lock-up at 11 am. He was rushed to St George Hospital for emergency medical treatment. He died while undergoing treatment.
